Exploring the History and Hospitality at Slough Fort

The East Kent District Association (EKDA) recently gathered for a memorable meet at Slough Fort, combining history, relaxation, and great company in a truly unique setting.

The highlight of the weekend was an enjoyable and informative tour of the historic Slough Fort, where members learned about the site's fascinating past and its role in local defence. Walking through the old fortifications gave us a real sense of the area's heritage—and a deeper appreciation for the dedicated volunteers who help preserve it.

Evenings were just as special, as we came together around the campfire for cozy nights under the stars. Laughter, stories, and marshmallows made for a classic EKDA camping experience, filled with warmth and camaraderie.

During the day, families and friends made the most of the onsite park facilities, which were perfect for relaxing or letting the kids play. And, of course, we didn’t miss the chance to indulge in some tasty treats from the on-site food stalls, which kept everyone well-fed and happy throughout the weekend.

It was another fantastic meet, full of fun, friendship, and a dash of history. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend a success—we’re already looking forward to our next adventure together!
