Our dedication on the Kent Surrey Sussex air ambulance.
The EKDA has embarked on an inspiring fundraising initiative: they aim to raise £100 or more to secure their name on one of the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) helicopters. As part of the charity’s “Buy It For Life” campaign, any individual or group donating £100+ earns the unique opportunity to have their name displayed on the aircraft itself .
Founded to connect outdoor enthusiasts across the region, the EKDA sees this campaign as a natural extension of their community spirit. Club members are organizing bake sales, outdoor challenges, and sponsored campouts to raise contributions toward the helicopter purchase. Once fully funded, the helicopter will bear the inscription “East Kent District Assiciation,” proudly visible during lifesaving missions over Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
KSS’s appeal, launched in April 2024, set a daunting target of £1 million to transition from leasing to owning their second AW169 helicopter, a move projected to save half a million pounds annually and extend operational hours . Remarkably, the charity surpassed its goal, raising over £1.77 million by June 2024. However, the naming dedication remained open until late June, giving groups like EKDA the chance to contribute and claim a place on the rotorcraft.
Once the EKDA Camping Club hits the £100 mark, their name will ride along each lifesaving sortie—an enduring symbol of local support making a genuine difference. It’s a memorable way for the club to leave its mark on the skies, while backing the essential work of KSS’s dedicated crews.
