💀 EKDA Goes South of the Border for a Spooktacular Weekend! 🌶️
What a brilliant weekend we had at the recent EKDA meet, embracing the vibrant traditions and colours of the Mexican Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead)! The weather was crisp, the company was warm, and the chili was hot!
Friday: The Festivities Begin
The meet officially opened on Friday, and once everyone was pitched up and settled, we kicked off the theme with a fantastic quiz night. A huge thank you to Terri, who did a wonderful job of hosting and testing our general (and perhaps a little Mexican) knowledge. There was plenty of laughter and some very competitive teams vying for the top spot!
Saturday: Crafting, Cinema, and Salsa!
Saturday was the heart of the celebration, packed full of activities for all ages.
Morning Fun: The day started with a burst of creativity at our kids' arts and crafts session. Our youngest members did a brilliant job decorating, preparing for the evening's celebration, and creating some truly colourful pieces of art.
Afternoon Relaxation: We took a break in the afternoon to enjoy a screening of the wonderful Disney-Pixar film "Coco". It was the perfect way to get into the spirit of the weekend and learn a little more about the tradition of Día de Muertos.
Evening Fiesta: As evening fell, we all gathered for a delicious, home-cooked chili supper—a perfect warm-up for the night's entertainment! The highlight of the evening had to be our very special guests, who led a fantastic salsa dancing lesson! From complete novices to the seasoned movers, everyone got on the floor and gave it a go. We finished the night with plenty of dancing and laughter, making memories we won't soon forget!
Sunday: Coffee, Catch-Ups, and Goodbyes
Sunday morning brought our traditional coffee morning. It was a great chance to reflect on the weekend's events—especially the salsa moves! There was a lot of giggling as we all shared stories of just how "amazing" our dance moves had been the night before.
It was the perfect, relaxed end to a wonderful weekend of fun, fellowship, and fiesta. Thank you to all the members who attended and helped make the Day of the Dead meet such a fantastic success.
